British Values

Promoting Fundamental British Values

We actively aim to promote British Values in accordance with expectations from The Department for Education, to ensure our children leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Everyone is  encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and to understand that, while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

These messages are conveyed through Collective Worship sessions and also PSHRE lessons in class. We strive to make the contexts used familiar and relatable to the children, looking for commonality, rather than differences, as we are a fairly homogenous community.
