  • Reading books

Children can change and take home two reading books every Monday from their specific phonics or coloured book band baskets. Please encourage your child to read and reread these texts daily to build up their fluency, accuracy and confidence with reading. Take time to pause for punctuation and discuss any vocabulary that is unfamiliar.  Reading records will be collected each Monday and returned on Tuesdays.

 

  • Spellings 

Children will bring home a new set of spellings to practise each Friday.  Each set of spellings will follow a specific spelling pattern or contain common tricky words.  Please ensure that spelling books are returned to school on a Thursday so that the weeks spelling test can be recorded and a new set of spellings can be sent home.
