We meet every term and are responsible for all resources in the school including:
We are responsible for ensuring that the school's finances are healthy and being managed in accordance with the rules, including approval of some spend. We review the current level of each account to make sure that we have enough to cover our expected spend for the rest of the year.
In association with the Headteacher and the School Business Manager, we review the budget for each year and check that it is aligned with our School Development Plan, ensuring that we are spending our money on our chosen priorities.
We cover all matters relating to the school buildings and grounds. We discuss any repairs required and make recommendations based on urgency and cost. We also generate and consider ideas for improvements that we would like to make and, where possible, see them through to implementation.
Pay and Staffing
Our function is to decide on the school staffing structure, to consider annual staff pay decisions (teaching and non-teaching, but excluding the Headteacher) and to review the school Pay Policy and Appraisal and Capability Policy. We make recommendation to the full Governing Board relating to the staffing needs of the school in line with the demands for the curriculum, the priorities in the School Development Plan and within the constraints of the budget.
