Spirituality

What is Spirituality?

  • Spirituality is very difficult to define
  • It is innate in us all but often more accessible to children
  • We need to actively engage with spiritual development – it will not happen by osmosis
  • We need to practise thinking and talking about it in order to develop our spirituality skills
  • For some people, spirituality can be felt through religious faith, nature or music.

Nobody Stands Nowhere

The Golden Rule

A relatively new term for a concept that has roots in several ancient cultures and spans most if not all religious and non-religious worldviews.

"Lights, Camera, Action!"

At Brightwalton we have been working collectively to develop a model for spirituality that is relevant to and reflects the needs of our pupils, staff and community.  This has recently been launched as “Lights, Camera, Action!”.

  • Lights - to notice and shine a spotlight on things that light us up, ask big questions about God and the universe and notice when things are unjust.
  • Camera – look inwards and consider what our beliefs are, how we feel about what is happening in the world while reflecting on what we have and can learn from our experiences.
  • Action – make an impact by considering ways we can make a difference to others, how we can be the good in the world and acting differently as a result.
