The School Day

School Day

School Arrival Time: 08:35 - 08:45 am

The doors will be opened at 8:35am, allowing the children plenty of time to be in the classroom for registration before 8:45am, when lessons start. Children arriving after 8:45am will need to be signed in via the School Office and will be marked as late. Messages for teachers can be left with the member of staff on the door or with the School Office.

School Finish Time: 3.15pm

Children should be collected at the end of the school day unless attending a club or they have permission to walk home, Years 5 & 6 only. If you are late to collect your children, please let us know as soon as possible and we will ask them to wait for you by the School Office.

What to bring to school

Shoulder Bags and Rucksacks are not allowed in school, due to limited cloakroom space – PE and Book Bags only please.

P.E. kit

P.E. kit must always be available in school every day, kept in a drawstring bag. All kit must be clearly named, preferably with name-tags as pen fades quickly.

Book Bags

When you join our school, the Friends of Brightwalton will provide your child with a book bag, which should be brought to school daily.  Replacements are available from the uniform page of the website.

Water Bottles for Years 1 – 6 only

Water is available at lunch and for Reception children throughout the day. Children in Years 1 – 6 must be provided with a small water bottle (300ml is ideal) which is clear, named, and has a non-spill, sports-style top. To support our healthy eating policy, bottles should be filled with water only.

Sun Cream

In the summer months, please apply sunscreen to your child’s skin before school. Staff are not able to apply sunscreen to your child.  On hot and sunny days, children may bring in a named bottle of sunscreen. Please teach your child how to apply their sunscreen to themselves (they must not share with others).  Alternatively, ensure that they have a sunscreen that works throughout the day.

Payments to school

We are a money free school, all transactions and payments can be made through our parent app.

Stationary

Provided by school.  No pencil cases required.

Toys

Children may not bring toys into school unless they are specifically asked to do so.  This includes sensory objects which school will provide.  Please discuss with class teacher.
